Malaysia — verified 18 August 2026

No — Canadians do not need a visa for Malaysia.

The Government of Canada lists a tourist visa as not required for stays of up to 90 days. You do have to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), an online pre-arrival form that can be filled in up to three days before you arrive. The MDAC is free on the official government site.

An ordinary Canadian passport does not need a visa for Malaysia.

Canadians do not need a visa for Malaysia. You do need the digital arrival card — it is free, it takes minutes, and you should not pay anyone for it, including us.

When it is worth using us

  • You hold a passport other than Canadian — many nationalities do need a visa for Malaysia, and that is the application we help with.
  • You are staying longer than 90 days, or travelling to work or study.
  • You want your passport checked for validity and blank pages before you fly, alongside another service you are already here for.

How it works

  1. 1.We tell you that you do not need us

For an ordinary Canadian passport on a holiday, there is no visa to buy and no service to sell. Complete the free MDAC yourself on the official site and you are done.

  2. 2.If you are on another passport, we check your actual requirement

Requirements vary widely by nationality. We confirm what applies to your passport before anyone pays anything.

  3. 3.If a visa is needed, we prepare and check it

Complete supporting documents, verified against your passport, reviewed by a person before submission.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond the date you expect to leave Malaysia
  • Completed Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, submitted up to three days before arrival
  • Proof of onward or return travel

Government fee. Nothing to pay. Visa-free entry is free and the MDAC is free on the official government portal.

Apply direct, if you prefer

These are the official government sites. They are the only places you should enter your passport details, and they charge the real fee with no markup. We would rather you use them and come back to us when the paperwork is genuinely hard.

Frequently asked questions

Do Canadians need a visa for Malaysia?

+

No, not for stays of up to 90 days. For a longer stay you would apply for an extension at an office of the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card free?

+

Yes. The MDAC is free on the official government portal. The Government of Canada has warned about a rise in online scams around the MDAC — sites that charge a fee for it are not official. We do not sell it either.

When do I fill in the MDAC?

+

Up to three days before you arrive. First-time visitors present the passport and the completed MDAC to the border officer on arrival for validation before leaving the counter.

So why would I come to you for Malaysia?

+

Usually you would not, and we would rather say so. The exception is if you hold a passport other than Canadian, are travelling for work or study, or are staying beyond 90 days.
