Apostille & authentication

Apostille services for Toronto, Ontario and all of Canada

An apostille certifies your Canadian document for use abroad under the Hague Convention. We route it to the right authority, hand it in in person, and return it the way you choose — from $75 per document plus the government fee.

1. We check the routing

Ontario document, federal document, or issued elsewhere? The destination country Hague or not? We confirm the correct authority and the exact requirements before you pay anything.

2. We submit in person

For Ontario documents we file the service request and hand your documents in at 777 Bay Street, Toronto on our scheduled courier run — processed in about a day there, instead of the 15-business-day mail queue.

3. Tracked chain of custody

Your originals — birth certificates, degrees, court documents — are logged at every handoff and returned by tracked courier or in-office pickup.

4. Ready for use abroad

Hague member country: the apostille is the final step. Non-member: we obtain the certificate of authentication and advise on the consular legalization that follows.

Why we can be faster than mailing it yourself

Ontario processes documents handed in at the counter in about a day, but mailed-in requests sit in a 15-business-day queue. We run a scheduled courier trip to 777 Bay Street, so your documents take the counter route without you crossing the city. Order today and your next run is Nov 3, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What does an apostille cost in Ontario?

+

As of August 2026, the Ontario government fee is $16 per notarized document and $32 per Ontario government-issued document (birth, marriage, death certificates). Our service fee starts at $75 per document for routing, submission at 777 Bay Street, and tracked return. Government fees are charged at cost — never marked up.

How fast can I get an apostille in Toronto?

+

Ontario processes documents handed in at the counter in about one business day, versus roughly 15 business days for anything mailed in. We hand documents in on a scheduled courier run, so a typical Ontario order is back with you inside a week — your target date is shown before you pay, as an estimate rather than a guarantee. Federal documents go to Global Affairs Canada by mail: about 20 business days, and no service in Canada can expedite that.

Which documents go to Global Affairs Canada instead of Ontario ODS?

+

Federal documents — citizenship certificates, RCMP police checks, IRCC documents — and documents issued in provinces without their own apostille office. GAC apostilles are free but mail-only, taking about 20 business days.

Can my university diploma be apostilled directly?

+

Ontario public college and university diplomas, degrees and transcripts qualify directly only if issued on or after 1 January 2019. Older credentials must be notarized first, then apostilled as notarized documents.

Do documents for China still need consular legalization?

+

No. Since Canada joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 11 January 2024, Canadian documents for use in mainland China need only an apostille. The old consulate legalization step is gone. See our dedicated apostille-for-China page.
