Indonesia — verified 18 August 2026

Yes — Canadians need a visa for Indonesia.

The Government of Canada lists a tourist visa as required. Most travellers use the electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA), applied for online before departure, which allows a 30-day stay that can be extended once by a further 30 days. Separately, the All Indonesia Declaration Form is mandatory and must be completed before you check in for your flight, up to 72 hours before arrival.

An ordinary Canadian passport needs a visa for Indonesia.

Canadians need a visa for Indonesia. Most holidays run on the electronic visa on arrival — and there is a separate declaration form that catches people out at check-in.

When it is worth using us

  • You want the e-VOA and the declaration form both handled, so nothing is discovered at the airport check-in desk.
  • You are travelling for business or a social-cultural purpose — those need a visa arranged in advance, with sponsorship letters from an Indonesian and a Canadian organisation.
  • You are staying beyond 60 days, or you need the mechanics of extending in-country explained before you go.
  • You hold a passport other than Canadian and the route is not obvious.

How it works

  1. 1.We confirm which visa your trip actually needs

A beach holiday and a business trip are different applications with different evidence. Getting this wrong is the expensive mistake, and it is the one we check first.

  2. 2.We prepare and check the application

Passport details verified character by character, a compliant photo taken in our office, and your onward ticket and accommodation confirmed.

  3. 3.A person reviews it before submission

Indonesia enforces its visa rules strictly — the Government of Canada warns that travellers have been detained over visa violations and overstays. We would rather be pedantic now.

  4. 4.We flag the extras

The All Indonesia Declaration Form, and the Love Bali tourist levy if you are going to Bali. Both are separate from your visa and both are your responsibility on the day — we make sure you know before you fly.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond your date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • Round-trip or onward airline ticket — required for all visa types
  • Scan of the passport bio page and a passport-style photo
  • Your accommodation address in Indonesia
  • For business or social-cultural visas: sponsorship letters from both an Indonesian and a Canadian organisation

Government fee. Indonesia charges the e-VOA fee directly on its official portal, in rupiah. We never mark up a government fee — we will show you the current amount on the official site before you commit.

Apply direct, if you prefer

These are the official government sites. They are the only places you should enter your passport details, and they charge the real fee with no markup. We would rather you use them and come back to us when the paperwork is genuinely hard.

Frequently asked questions

Do Canadians need a visa for Indonesia?

+

Yes. The Government of Canada lists a tourist visa as required. Canadians may obtain one in advance or on arrival at selected entry points; most people apply online for the electronic visa on arrival before they travel.

How long can I stay in Indonesia on a visa on arrival?

+

30 days, extendable once by a further 30 days for 60 in total. Since June 2025 the extension cannot be done online — it has to be done in person at a local office of Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration (Imigrasi).

What is the All Indonesia Declaration Form?

+

A mandatory declaration, separate from your visa, that must be completed before you check in for your flight and up to 72 hours before you arrive. It is free and it is not a visa — do not pay a third-party site for it.

Is there an extra fee for Bali?

+

Yes. Bali charges a tourist levy that is separate from your visa and paid directly. It is not something we collect.
